Mission Statement/Purpose

CampUShed is a unique collaboration between students, faculty, and staff from the academic sector, and members of the professional and service sectors on and around Ohio State University to introduce the best scientifically-based environmental solutions to life on campus whenever practicable.

CampUShed is dedicated to making The Ohio State University more environmentally responsible by fostering the opportunity for students, faculty, and staff learn about more environmentally friendly concepts in construction and daily activities on campus.

Working in collaboration with the campus offices of Engineering, Facilities Planning and Development, and Roads and Grounds, various faculty have included on-campus projects into their course curriculum giving students practical applications to study environmentally friendly alternatives to development, while providing the service and professional sectors new ideas to consider.

CampUShed is currently working with 13 environmentally-oriented student groups to provide this information and hopes to extend this collaboration throughout the entire University.

To do this, CampUShed provides an information clearinghouse in the form of a web site whereby students, faculty, and staff can find out about student organizations, events, and activities going on around campus.

Because it is collaborative in nature, CampUShed can provide opportunities for students:

1. to interact with faculty and staff outside of the classroom, 2. to receive real world, hands-on learning experiences to supplement their current course work, and 3. to have a platform where students can have a stronger, unified voice concerning environmental impacts and issues on campus.
