Earth
Day and Arbor Day were celebrated a whole new way this year
at The Ohio State University!
A coalition of student-run groups formed the OSU Earth Day Committee and devoted themselves to making Earth Day and Arbor Day a wonderful experience for those who wished to learn more about environmental issues and how to become involved in the local community. This unique celebration lasted the entire month of April and boasted a variety of events including multiple community clean up and planting efforts, recycling drives, Car Free Day as well as informational lectures and dialogues.
Earth Day itself was celebrated in grand style on the west lawn of the Ohio Union on Ohio State's campus and included a variety of student organizations, CD 101's Green Team, live animals from the Ohio Wildlife Center, and fuel-efficient cars from Roush Honda. The activities on Earth Day culminated in the planting of 200 trees at Chadwick Arboretum in celebration of Arbor Day, and later that evening students participated in an informal dialogue on campus concerning current environmental affairs and issues.
Earth Week wrapped up with community clean up events located north of campus at Tuttle Park, on campus, and in the Short North. Please see our calendar of events for more
detent and the community did not end thein May offered
volunteers an opportunity to get outside with community
planting events in the University District and North
Campus/Tuttle Park.
